Hi,
Am relatively new to the hobby, and am in the process of setting up a 12 gallon nano. This will be a fish only, no corals. Will plan to have an ocellaris clownfish and a Randall's goby, along with the usual cleanup crew (two hermits, two snails). My question is would you recommend adding another filter with an airstone to supply more oxygen? If so, anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

An airstone filter is not necessary if your main filter is sufficient size for the tank. The water naturally has dissolved oxygen in it. Just make sure your tank is cycled before you add any fish.

I have heard that if, heaven forbid, your filter were to quit working for even a few hours, your tank could become depleted of oxygen. Although I think that's more for large tanks, but it wouldn't hurt to stick an airline in a discrete location to pump out bubbles in the off chance of a filter malfunction.

A small tank would become depleted of oxygen quicker than a large one. It really depends on how much livestock you have in it. Just a clown and a goby would not use up the oxygen real fast, but it isn't a bad idea to have a backup.

Thanks. . .Yes, I will have the tank running for a month before adding any fish. (Probably longer, since I will be have the fish in quarantine before adding them to the main display)
