12 gallon nano

would a 12 gallon nano be a sufficent size tank for a mantis shrimp? i dont know what kind it will be but i will get it from my LFS as they simply throw them away if they find them in their LR shipments from florida. thanks

get a small mantis like a n.wenne (sp) but that should be fine 12 gals.

the ones from florida are N. wennerae. this would be plenty of room for one.

damn...ill just get something smaller....i already have an emrald crab in the tank....so will the mantis still be safe with it in there? its a big emrald crab and id get a small mantis

I would be much more worried about your emerald crab getting waxed... my peacock would certaintly try to eat, while my wennera has just whacked a couple of my emeralds, but not killed one...i dont believe..

thats what im kind of hoping for....what do you feed the mantis's...i heard like shrimp...but how do you spot feed it?

I'd give it a variety of foods including mussels, snails, krill, shrimp, etc. It is important to feed smashers something that they can beat on (not neccessarily every time, but often).
