120 gal lighting

Need lighting on my new 120. I have 9" of clearance between the canopy and tank. Tank is 24"x24"x48". Looking to go for 2 x 250w plus some other supplimental lighting. Thinking of luminarc reflectors, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions for ballasts and bulbs? Trying to stay under $600 if possible. Any suggestions on who has the best pricing?

Icecap Ballasts, Radiums, Lumenarcs. No supplements. It was a good look for me and you get the best equipment for right around your $600, maybe a little more. It fits your tank nicely too.

I agree, I had a 120 with 2-250w 14000k halides. I ran them off two icecap electronic ballasts with lumenarcs.
If in the future you have a little more money I also went with 2 atinics running on an icecap 660 to handle dusk/dawn lighting.

Should be able to get 2 MH ballasts and sockets and bulbs for about $200 on a DIY. Then $100 for a 260w Actinics. For a 48" tank.

But that is only a 24" fixture the 48" is almost $1500.

ya, but you can now finally turn off or sell your chiller and your wife will no longer nagging to you about the electric bill and sona like room temperature from the chiller.
