120 gallon stocking

Hello,I am new to this forum and I joined for some advice on a build I am planning on doing.I am planning on setting up a 120 gallon predator tank and I am deciding on what fish to stock. This is my list so far:

-Volitan lionfish
-Miniatus grouper
-Porcupine puffer
-Dogface puffer
-Humu picassio trigger
-Niger trigger
-Harlequin tusk
-Snowflake eel

The grouper and 2 puffers will need bigger tanks. The puffers get about 1' when full grown. Grouper will be very aggressive. Snowflake is a good choice. I dont know about keeping triggers and lions together, I think most say the triggers nip at the fins. Hope that helps dont meant to be negative!

I agree wit the puffers, also the Tusk needs at least a 180. I also think the Humu and Niger needs bigger. It is known on occasions that Triggers are good for nipping at the fins of Lionfish.

Lions and triggers usually does not work although some people never have problems. If you go that route you will have to monitor and be prepared to separate if need be. Might not be worth the risk. Both triggers are very slow growing so if purchased at a smaller size you "should" be fine for a few years. Porcupine puffer get very big and I would skip that one. Dogface would be ok in my opinion, i had one in my 120 for 3 years before I broke the tank down. I have never owned a tusk, but i do believe a 6 foot tank is minimum which is why i did not add one to my 120. Snowflake eel will be fine.

fyi when i had a 120 my stock list was this:

yellow tang
dogface puffer
picasso trigger
pinkface wrasse
flame angel
zebra moray eel

It seemed to be a good mix.

hope this helps...

I'm looking more into a predator build so the wrasse, flame, and tang are off.I was considering a zebra but I wanted something more "predatory".Lionfish and grouper are definite though.I'm most likely gonna get the fish on the smaller side to hopefully minimize aggression.

I raise baby triggers through a progression of tanks, just to give you an idea. If you get the humu and niger around the 1.5 " size, I took a humu, niger, and volitan lion from a 40 to a 90, and in the 90 added a dogface puffer before I put them in a 180 at over the 5 year mark. I would only do maybe 4 of those fish in the 120 and they will be happy for many years.
