I been wanting to put a 48x24x25 on my second floor
but don't if my floor can support it
house is 13 years old
right now it have 3/4 hardwood floor
the room is sitting on top of my two doors garage.

Please let me know if this is too much weight or it can hold that tank size?

Thanks in Advance!

WHere is the tank in relation to joists(ie parallel or perpendicular) and how close is it to a load bearing wall?

If it is against a load bearing wall and perp to the joists, no problem. If it is parallel to teh joists and sitting int he middle of the floor, you will have a problem. Can you add supports in the garage?

I have 120 gal.(48x24x24) on second floor of my house(perpendicular to joists),had 125 gal.on second floor of my previous apartment too.Never any problems.

Thanks James, Mark and Mike for the advices.

It will be sitting at the corner.
The 48 inch size is parallel with the garage door.
Does that mean it's parallel or perpendicular to the joist?

Thanks everyone.

Go down in the garage and check it out. If its sheetrocked, just find the screw lines and that will tell you where the joists are.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about that much weight up there. You're looking at around 1200lbs when all is said and done. Would you hesitate to put 6 people in that corner and have them all jump at the same time? I know a static load is different over time, but I think you will be fine as long as the room was built properly.

We are having kids soon
I been thinking about it a lot
I might put it down stair where it's on slab.
Reason I want to put it upstairs bc later on the kids can enjoy it bc it's a family room.
But I guess that's give another excuse to put a smaller tank there.

Thanks everyone!

My 110 was on the 3rd floor. I also had a 30gal sump. No issues. Just make sure your tank is nice and level.

Put it up there, and drain it through the floor to your garage where you have a nice sump, frag tank, Fuge, and quarantine system.

All throughout college I lived in houses that were old as dirt (early 1900s) that my parents wouldn't even go in. I carted around a 125 gallon tank house to house and always lived on the second floor. Never thought twice about it until a second floor balcony collapsed at a party that I was standing on with about 60 other people but that's a whole different story. Never had an issue with the tank.

Hope everyone is ok with your crash party.
I think my floor will hold it
It's just the wifey thing with the baby coming next year.

Thanks!
