Hey guys,
Some of you may have saw a posting in regards to my cracked tank a couple of weeks ago. Well, after some thought, ive decided not to fix or replace the tank. I know there are some DIYers in BAR that would be much better suited to fix the aquarium than i would be. It is really diesheartening to have to sell something youve saved up for and looked forward to but with the additional costs of fixing the tank, i would be way over my already slim budget.
With that said, I really dont know what the going price for a cracked aquarium is, but im asking $400.00. I think with a little elbow grease, the tank will be a great aquarium for many more years to come. If my asking price is too high, please just let me know (in the nicest way possible of course
and if you think im asking too little, dont hesitate to offer more
. Like i said, i have no idea what a set up like this is really worth. In addition, the reason i am forced to sell is because of my extensive debt to the Unversity of California, so i would like to get as much as i can.
Specs:
The tank is interamerican. The dimensions are 48x24x26. The front and side panels are starfire. I beleive the front, back and sides are 1/2 inch thick and the euro bracing is 3/4 inch. It is very very heavy and is very solidly built. There is a center overflow with 1.5 inch and 1 inch holes drilled. I beleive the stand is made out of maple is a really nice stand. The stand itself is 36 inches hight and the canopy is 19 inches. There is a shelf built into the canopy for odds and ends. The previous owner had a friend build the stand and i believe he said he paid over $1000.00 for it.
Like i said, the tank is cracked at the bottom. There are two main cracks and a couple stemming from those. The tank can hold water but im sure no one would leave it as it. I imagine you can either replace the entire pane or put a new pane on top.
