I think you'll be fine. It doesn't feel like I have any humidity issues under my stand. Granted I have less water under there. But I do have the back open as do you.

I have both of my balasts hanging underneath my tank right above the sump. I am toping off 5 gal per day as you know. (pleanty of humidity) No problems so faar...

My only concern with the ballast in the cabinet is that it will add a LOT of heat to your system that you don't need.

I agree, however, I'm very limited with placing stuff as I don't want that ballast to be a centerpeice (Roy!)
So, I'm going to play it by year and see how it goes and then I'll go from there.
