well i see everyone getting into the mix on starting large systems. this is my second. the first was this same system half the size in my old house. ive been in my house a year, and decided it was time to start. its been two months of weekends and after work of getting this thing started.

just those that will ask. i have currently 3 tanks. 2 display, 1 refug. im currently looking for two more tanks that are the same size to put in my man cave covering one whole wall which is 20 feet. I'll get there!!!

equipment - i have (2) reeflo hammerheads plumbed parallel. 1 reeflo marlin skimmer pump, and a reeflo blowout 1450 for my chiller and refug. chiller is a current c1000 chiller w/digital display. skimmer is an etss 1400xr with extensions to make it the 2000xr model. lastly i have an aqua ultraviolet 160 uv. im in the market for a large reactor to run biop-pellets but havent found anything yet. i need something that will hold 26 cups of media. im using a 130 gal tank for a refug, and a 150 gal rubbermaid stock tank for a sump. i have a 130 gal tank that will be picture framed in my son bedroom wall. i have a 250 gal tank in my office. like i said im looking for (2) identical 8' tanks currently for my man cave room to fill a 20' wall. my ro/di system is all automated with floats to control levels in my sump along with levels in each can. i have 100 gals of water on hand at anytime. 40 salt and 60 fresh. once all the tanks are installed it will all be fresh with possibly kalk mixed in. their are hydor powerheads in each tank for circulation, that are controlled by the ro/di system to shut off if the water drops to far. Lights are all coralife pro w/ 150w hqi lighting within.

currently i have the system up and running the sump, refug, 130 g tank and skimmer. as i get tanks installed and plumbed i bring them online. i have 300 lbs of live rock that is stored in my sump until tanks come online as well. they have been in water without lights for 3 years now, so hopefully it all will come back to life once water, temp, and parameters come back inline. I checked today. salinty was 1.026 am 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 0 ph 8.0!!! i guessing between the rocks and the deep sand in refug that are both from my previous system, that it has already cycled. regardless, im at least two months out from fish. ill post what pictures i have on this computer adn more as they come available. thanks for looking. feedback is always appreciated!!

boss - if i had the space a large tank would have been the ticket trust me. but instead im settling for a tank in my sons room(135g), my office (225g), my living room if i can get permission from the wife (200 - 500g). i found a large tank used 8x2x4 but it sold before i could get to it!!! if that doesnt happen im building a entertainment room (mancave if you ask me), id like to have two 8 foot tanks side by side for the length of that room.

muttley
live stock will consist of aggressive fich in my sons room. 1-trigger 1-lion 1-angel 1-puffer. in my office i want to set a reef sytle with clowns and anes. maybe try my hand in soft coral which ive never done yet.

some updated pictures!!!! i finished the plumbing today forn the skimmer, refugium, chiller, dt pumps, uv, and dt in my sons room. all have been leak tested and currently are running.!!!

The larger pictures are uploaded via photobucket. If you have an account you can upload them from there. If you don't have an account its free to get one. Once you have the account set up and uploaded the pictures to photobucket place your cursor over the picture you want and you will see a couple of options pop up. Click on the one that says "IMG code" and it will say copied. Then come back to your thread and simply paste the code into the text line and it should look like this. (img)fjskjdfls(img). Click on the preview post button to make sure it worked out how you want it.

dont mind the mess!! this build and basement remodel has taken a tool on keeping my garage clean!!

regardless - i finally built my stand to finish sanding my acrylic tank. i did it once laying down but couldnt move around inside enough to apply pressure to remove swirl marks. i built this so i can stand inside the tank, its inverted, to make my life easier. hopefully with the long holiday weekend, i can get it cleaned polished, and washed with viniger to have inplace by monday. fillinf it with water!!! wish me luck.

if anybody has advice sanding (dry / wet) acrylic chime please!! i learned from a 3 minute youtube video and expaned on those ideas from there!!!

thanks
