a couple updated pics. tank is in, it is plumbed and running with the rest of the system. this weekend im going to seperate what live rock i have left and start to aquascape. i have two korila powerheads coming to help move the water around this tank. i cant decide if i want two pryamid style foundations or one large tower on one side with a drop off style open area on the other. any suggestions or ideas?? i want to have this a reef tank. clowns and rose bulb anemones along with corals that ive never kept before (first true reef tank). but i need to keep in mind the fact the nems with travel, normally upwards. that was the reasoning behind the pryamid style formations.

also, any suggestions on some hardy corals to start with. ive always toadstool leathers and corals of that nature.

couple updated pictures from the tank!!

i have 3 tba and 6 false clowns. amongst some others but these are the most amusing.

they are api test kits which i have read on here that they are unreliable, but ive never had an issue with crashes or anything like that. i cant say they are accurate because ive never used any other kit. im a seachem believer, but there kits are for chemistry professors!! lol

Everything looks great and well thought out. I'm discovering how much of an amateur I still am after setting up my 300gal.

One question: In the first set of pics you have a tank in the background on a stand built off the wall. I don't see any legs on the outer part of the tank. Just curious what is holding that part of the tank up?

thanks for the compliments. the thought out part is more trial and error then anything. id like to change some things, but im way over budget. i ripped the sump room apart twice until i had what i wanted and envisioned. there are still things i need to work on. as for the floating refugium. it has legs!! if you notice post #15, second picture. youll see the right leg, the left is actually built into the wall. since i am finishing my basement it was easy to accomplish in that manner.

i had the space so i took advantage of a seperate sump room combined with my laundry room. id never try tanks this large with in cabinet equipment, i dont have the faith in my amateur skills. i look at other setups on here and feel like i should delete my threads in embarressment. some of these setups are so nice i could only dream of them!!

i do have a question for those following along. i cant decide if i should plumb my reactor using the skimmer pump reeflo marlin (2000gph) or dt pump reeflo hammerhead (5500gph). my etss1400 with extentions is rated up 2000 and seems to use every bit so im leaning using the dt return line as a source but was looking for suggestions. im not using a dedicated pump. i have to many as it is!!

installed new avast reactor today. wasnt really satisfied with the results but i found out for pellet use, you need a different nozzle. so that is ordered and hopefully it will solve my clumping issues. i plumbed it inline with my dt's but im not getting the flow i need. so im going to adjust the return valves on all tanks to help with the needed pressure. possibly turn second hammerhead on and throttle back the flow. the second pump is in and plumb but wasnt planned on being used until i installed a "dream tank" in my living room. hopefully the nozzle will do the trick.

since im running 600 gallons and ive read to start slow and work your way up, i only placed 3 cups (1/4 of suggested pellets) until i need to add more then ill increase the level. is there a better method or time table as far as adding additional pellets? thanks guy.

it definately doesnt compare with some of these other i see on here!! but it the best ive done with what i have to work with!! My tanks are going on since i created this thread, so almost a year. My aggressive tank, which is located in my sons room is finished for the most part. The reef tank in my office is a work in progress. Its up and running but ive yet to finish the cabinet work around the bottom of the tank. Ill have to get some updated pictures posted!
