Hi, I put this in our local forums but I thought I would share here too. I recently upgraded from my 65 to a 120. The tank was swapped over 2 weeks ago.

Im going for a mixed reef, but plan on majority of SPS corals.

The 120g tank was bought new from a local LFS. The stand and canopy were used, and restained in a cherry color (wife color requirement for any tank:spin3:).

Here are the specs

120g 48x24x24
Stand is 36 inch high, canopy is 15 inch high
Bean overflow
20g sump with baffles (waiting for petco to do another $1/gallon sale for a 40 breeder)
Laguna Maxflo 1500 return pump
Bubble magus hero 180 skimmer
RO bro-140 reactor plumbed with the return pump
Sunlight supply T5 8x54 watt fixture
All Giessman bulbs, give a 15-16k look
Koralias 1050 x 2 (will upgrade to tunze soon)

Here are some pics.

that's gonna look nice once those rocks mature...

now I'm picturing a couple of clams somewhere: maybe a derasa on the bottom and a maxima up in the rocks...

oh and BTW, is that a green hairy mushroom in the lower middle?

Thanks. No its a pink tip frog spawn.

Really nice set up! Love the minimal load of live rock. I think some guys overload their tanks. I agree some clams would look sweet in there. Im curious if you plan to upgrade your sump ever. 20g seems quite small for that tank.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks jaybird1969. Yes Im looking to upgrade my sump to a 40g breeder. Im using the same one from my old 65g. Im just waiting for petco to do another $1/gallon sale.

I do love clams. I was actually looking at some today at the lfs. But nothing yet. I would imagine real soon though.

$1 per gallon sale should be happening right now so check out your petco. Very nice tank

Thanks everyone. Thanks nbgen12 for the heads up. Just called and checked and yes its running from 12/26-1/19 here in the Orlando area. Time to sneak away from the house tonight. :)

Here is the completed sump. Silicone came out a little messier than I would have liked. But I will trim it up a little and put it in service.

The baffle heights are 10 inches in the return/skimmer area. The others are 9 inches high. I had the float valve hole cut at 7 inches. All the glass cost me around 35. So not to bad.

Your 120 glass looks so clear, I miss when mine was clean like that haha

Thanks. Carbon dosing helps.

I got the 40g sump in tonight. It wasnt pretty. It wouldnt fit by just a touch. So I had to take the saw out and do some cutting on the stand. I have to go back and sand it down now. But non the less its in.
