120g Oceanic Tech Tank

I just picked one up Saturday. It looks great, though a bit heavy!

I'm in the process of building a stand for it now, does anyone know whether or not it needs to be supported only on the edges or the entire bottom?

If anyone has any pictures of their tech tank setup, I would like to see them.
 
They do offer a stainless steel option, it's more of a ring around the top trim, under the Euro-Brace. The stands they offer, do have a lot of SS on them.

I really like the look of the tank. It's made with 1/2" glass, black silicone, the back glass is black (built into the glass), the overflow is located in the center and is very slim, which doesn't take up much space, and there is no center brace. It's eurobraced around the entire top.

I'll snap some pictures for you all as soon as possible.

I can't find the tank on their website, or anywhere else, if I could then I would post a picture of it now...

So cstires did the tank come with the hole drilled in the LIP or you did that..
If it came that way can we drill 2 more in the front for a closed Loop.
You need to post more Pics.. of your progress..

What was rough cost on just the tank.. If you don’t mind…

The tank came with the four holes drilled in the lip. I'm assuming their for power cords, but I don't see why they couldn't be used for a closed loop. That's actually a really good idea!!!

If I need more flow one day, I will have to see what I can do with those. Right now I have two Tunze 6100's that will be in it along with the two returns, so hopefully I'll have enough flow to keep my SPS happy!

The tank is not cheap! It cost about double what a regular 120 costs. But I really like the extra thick glass, sleek overflow, black lamination of the back glass, and most of all not having to deal with a center brace!!!
 
Thanks for all the kind words everyone! I'll keep updating this thread as my progress continues. I should be getting my molding today, so I will be able to complete the stand sometime this week, and hopefully stain it this weekend.

I was going to build a canopy for it, however I've decided to go with a geissman light fixture instead. It will house 2-250w DE MH's and I think 2-54w T-5's.
 
it does look great, are the dimensions the same as a standard 120, ... 4' X 2' X 2'?

I especially like the overflow box lid/cover, lol

The regular 120 or double the RR 120 by oceanic..
Sorry for all the Qs i am plannig a 120 and THIS is want i want...

That tank is soooo Nice.. man...
 
The tank cost around $850.00, which is about twice the amount of a regular AGA RR 120.

I'm not sure whether it's a new line for this year or not. I actually only know of one LFS that carries it, the others I went to had no idea what I was talking about, and said they couldn't get it. I've done searches on google, as well as checked the Oceanic site, and there was no information on it at all. I'm hoping to have my spec sheet from Oceanic sometime this week. I'll scan it and post it on once it's received.

Thanks for your support Kamla, do you mind sharing your support to my wife, I'm not sure she feels the same as we do! lol :)

I will be keeping a few (very few) soft corals, probably just my neon green polyp toadstool, some rics, but the majority will be SPS.

I'm going to be using a My Reef Creations MR-1 skimmer, and I haven't decided on the sump yet. The tank will be setup on my garage wall, so I'm thinking of putting it out in the garage which will allow me to get a bigger one and have plenty of room to work on everything. My chiller should be able to handle the extra heat that I will encounter doing that, but that idea is still up in the air at this point.

I haven't decided on my pumps yet, but I will be using my tunze's for the main flow in the tank. I need two (probably external) that will push between 900-1200gph for both my return and my skimmer. I may get one smaller pump to run the skimmer and a larger one that I can split and have one line going to the skimmer and back to the tank, and the other going directly to the tank.

But first things first, I've gotta get the stand done! :)
