Right now the tank is sitting on the floor awaiting it's counterpart to be finished and stained! :) Hopefully in the next few days I can put some more time into this thing!

Just in case you all did not know...The oceanic tech series glass is a low iron glass just like starphire glass. It does not have any green tint to it..hence the high price of the tank. i just got the same tank and matching stand at my LFS for 999.00. I am setting mine up right now as well. I was gonna make the stand but the tank price was 830.00 bucks so basically i got the stand for 170 bucks!!! which is awesome.
 
I'm still awaiting the spec sheet from Oceanic, do you know if only the front is made from Low Iron Glass, or is it the sides as well?
 
it is starphire glass, on the sides and front, my lfs sells these and their new store has one set up with giesemann 48" over it and the matching oceanic stand, they look truly amazing with the a hanging light, such a clean look. They look best without a canopy imo, european style.

I also love the overflow cover to prevent light getting in. the carry a hefty price though, but well worth it in my opinion.
 
very nice, i got me one of the LI tanks as well. all sides except bottom. dun think its their tech series though, since the top is normal.

Update

Today I was able to spend some quality time on the stand. Excuse the wood filler in the pics, I just got done putting it on the nail holes. All I have left to do is give it a final sanding and then finish it.

Well, I have to do the doors too! :) I'm going to get a quote from a cabinet maker and see how their prices are since I don't have a lot of time to work on them, however if the quote is really high, I will just do them myself. Their going to be raised panel, 5/8" thick.

The stain will be a dark cherry (weathered), to match the rest of my furniture in the house.

All the work on the stand has got me really anxious to start getting this thing up and running!!!

I used stain grade poplar. The moldings are also poplar. It's not easy to finish, but luckily the finich on the piece of furniture that my wife wants it matched to has an antique look to it, and therefore I'm not to worried about the shades being different within the piece.

I'm hoping to have some time over the holidays to get the stand stained. I'll post pictures as soon as I do.
 
cstires, please be sure and post (w/ pics and narrative) your plans for the electronics. For example, I myself am updating a stand and I'm looking at ideas for various "power center" concepts. I'd love to see/hear your ideas.
