120g Oceanic Tech Tank

i have not figured it out yet!!! i am torn between all t-5's or a combo MH/t5 like a maristar. What have you thought about?. i8 currently run all t-5's 6 bulb on my 75 gal

My wife isn't to thrilled with the idea of having it hanging over the aquarium, she said it will look like a fish store to her. I don't think so, besides, I don't want to cover up such a nice tank with a canopy, it just wasn't made for that in my opinion!!!

Here are a couple pics of mine: it is still new and the camera is not so good. I absolutley love this tank though.

Looks great!

If you can share anymore pics of your skimmer setup that would be great! I'm still trying to figure out what to do with mine. My present thought is to move it out in the garage along with my chiller, this way I can keep the sump that I already have. But if do this, then I'm going to have to upgrade both pumps, which shouldn't be a problem, the problem is picking which pumps to buy!!! :)

what is your present situation with the skimmer? Mine is a MR-2 powered by Gen-x PCX 55. The sump is the same dimensions as a 40 breeder. everything fits wall to wall i coldnt fit more than a quarter between the doors and the plumbing... it was perfect. the skimmer sits in 9inches of water and the plumbing has about 6 or more unions so I could manuever the piping anyway I wanted. i then converted 1" over to 1 1/4" barb fitting and used the tubing to make the bend.

I will get you some pics of the back side of the plumbing tomorrow.

My problem is that the skimmer won't fit into my sump, and I can't find a good way to fit it beside the sump, so my only option left is to move it out into the garage and see how it goes from there...

cstires,

I am running a 30 gal sump i have my two over flow pipes running into a 8 inch wide chamber with a baffle. Then i have an ASM g-2 skimmer sitting in the rest of the sump. And the far end of the sump i have a 1 inch bulkhead to feed my external ran eheim 1262 pump that feeds both returns via a tee

A friend of mine in Port Charlotte put all his equipment in the garage. He built a closet about two feet deep and 6 feet wide and put sliding glass doors on the garage side for access. The air con/heating has a duct to the closet for temp control. He has access to all the equipment, climate control, and can still park his car in the garage.

fwiw,

It is sunlight supply Maristar 48" fixture with some custom made legs and then I used 3M velcro to hold it in place.

Beautiful build and set-up there Cstires! I love the tank. As for the lights, hang it! it would look beautiful with that tank w/ an open top. I got a aquamedic oceanlight hanging over my 120g and it looks pretty nice, look into my gallery for pic.

Finally ... Some Water in that tank.....

J/K

Looking good.. Cstires.. are you planning to build a canopy..
That would clean up the look ...

Those pics aren't my tank. I don't have water in mine yet! Hopefully this weekend if all goes well with my doors and my plumbing.

I made some simple flat panel doors over the holiday, since I couldn't see spending the money on raised panel, since I ended up painting it black.

holy crap, i think im in love with that 120 tek tank! i have been planning a 120 for months and have been debating on wether or not to go with a euro brace style, this has def givin me a big shove in that direction....now all i have to do is put all the $$$ in my tank/stand/canopy fund into the tank and start saving all over again, haha. :sad1:

I hear ya! They are the nicest 120's that I've seen! Steep price tag, but they say you get what you pay for, right? :)
