cstires/crazysps,

what kind of material is the overflow made out of? Is it the same plastic used in AGA megaflow tanks? The reason why I asked is I found it very hard to scrape coraline algaes off it.

BTW very nice looking tanks!!!

theover flow is actually glass but with a black plastic covering over it that extends about 2 inches above the glass to make the teeth for the over flow. That placstic is the only bummer of this tank.

cstires,

how is that tank coming along?? i would take pics of mine but now I am going through a mini cycle of my tank and its all green right now. I didnt think moving from my 75 gal to my 120 that it would do that.....errrrrr

Well, my wife told me she wants a canopy, so that's what I'm getting ready to build now. The stand is completely finished, doors are painted and installed.

I've decided to stick with my existing lighting equipment for the time being, this tank is sending me to the poor house:)

I did however get two Lumenarc Mini's, to replace my spider light reflectors. I'm hoping to get more light output from them, I will review them once I set everything up.

I don't think the canopy will take me more than a few days, but it's the holiday season, and I can't seem to find any time to get out into the garage! I've spent the last few weekends hanging up Christmas lights!

I'll snap a picture of the stand and post tomorrow.

Who cares if it's a little green, show that thing!!!

Do you know any difference with the starfire glass being more clear. Would you say it has no tint to the glass like a acrylic tank? Thanks

I can tell you it's a lot clearer than regular glass, however I wouldn't say it's as clear as acrylic though. It has a faint hint of green, but nothing compared to a regular pane of glass.

Still loving the tech series? I am getting quotes for one right now. I am willing to pay if you folks really think this tank justifies the price. Any feed back would be great.

I finally finished the stand and canopy, and received all the parts I need to complete this baby! So my brother and I moved the beast into the house tonight, and then a quickly realized how small of a home I own right now!!!

Here are some shots of it in it's resting place. Tomorrow and Sunday I will be plumbing it and getting it ready to go!

My tank just finished going through its cycle and the sand bed whitened itself all back out and the tank is looking really nice. I am thinking about stocking some corals soon. Keep me updated.
Sorry this is Crazysps on my girlsfriends account.
tenpercenter: the tech tnk is nicest looking tank I have seen in along time. I love it and get compliments from everyone on how clean the tank looks. also it gives you two overflows drains and two returns def. a must buy:)

cstires,

the tank looks great. maybe you can give us a run down of the setup?

I ordered my tech tank this morning, should be here on Tuesday. Can't wait!

Lighting:

I'm using Lumenarc Mini Reflectors with AB 10K 250w MH's, and 2 110w VHO Super Actinics for supplementation.

Flow:

I'm using a single Reeflo Dart to supply my flow threw two manifolds on top of the tank. I wanted to go powerhead less on this setup. I think it looks great and has really good flow. The pump also feeds a small refugium that's attached to the sump. I have it plumbed now to also run my chiller, however I'm hoping to not have to do that. However my temp is getting pretty hot during the day!

I added ball valves onto the ends of the drain lines, this enabled me to quite down the sump by matching the flow to the pump.

Sump:

I don't like the design of my sump at all. It places the drains too close to the intake box for my pump, which is causing some slight micro bubbles to enter the main tank. I'm playing around with various socks/sponges/filter pads, etc... to see if I can cut the bubbles down even more.
