Well....I finally took my 120 down today in... I didnt realize it would be such a sad event....felt bad to see some of my prized corals go....and 2 of my favorite fish... Sam, take care of them, and post some pics of them in your tank.

Onto what is left.... well..the day got even sadder...

I noticed a CRACK in the bottom left corner of the back of the tank... it is a crack that runs from the bottom corner up towards the bulkhead on the bottom... I'm thinking that the bulkhead was placed on too tightly, or the hole was drilled too close to the corner...or combo of both...

The weird thing is that the tank was still holding water... I wonder if that is because there is another pane of glass behind the one actually holding the water in.. I think its a black painted pain of glass that was put behind it to create the dark black background.

Soooooo, question to you guys...what should I ask for it? I had someone coming in to buy it for $600... but I doubt he will once he hears this...

What should I ask for this system now? I have no idea if someone has access to fixing this tank, I guess a DIYer could get a sweet tank for a great deal here...

It comes with stand, canopy, and custom SoCalCreations sump.

If someone wants to pick it up tomorrow, shoot me a pm and make me an offer....I figure if I part out I can get at least 125 to 150 for my sump but its realy designed for this system, so rather sell it all together.

I have pics in my gallery .....first reasonable offer will get it...

Hey G whats up. You fish and corals are thriving! The corals opened up within minutes! And the fish are pigging out already, good thing! Phew.... Those zoos look sick!

I will post pics soon tommorow in the morning.

Guys this tank is simply amazing! Pictures will not do justice for this set up. I saw his pics in the gallery and I was like eh... But then when I walked in I was like O crap! Im 6'3 and believe me this set up is big. It is a well designed cube/starphire. It is in mint condition!

Whoever doesnt have a tank and passes this up is completley nutts!!!!

As for the crack Im sure its more like a pressure crack you would have had water all over the floor.

Yea I can tell it was painfull G you were pretty quite while fishing out the good:lol:....Dont worry they are in good hands.;)

LOL... ya....it sucked...but i have to give a lil to get a lot..which is what it will be when I get the new 180 set up.

I am sure its just a lil crack, but still, a crack is a crack..

Wish I could get it analyzed by an expert...I am not losing water, it looks like a tight hairline crack, but it is the width of the glass, not just a superficial one...I guess I can try and take pics tomorrow.

G

btw... I am taking the rest of the sand out... and I have a ton of nassarius snails.. so if anyone needs snails and live sand... tomorrow you will need to stop by.. also Chaeto... just pm me.

I will sell the stuff for dirt cheap....well worth your time trust me.

Use the tank as a reptile tank. I wouldn't use a tank that has cracked especially if it's glass. Even if someone were to repair this, it would take forever to redo the removal of silicone and repair.

what do you guys think of adding another 1/2in piece of glass in front of the cracked piece, matching the bulkhead holes, and siliconing that piece around...that should make a water tight seal in front of the crack, so even if the crack would leak water, water would never get to it anyways...just an idea..??

Full tank shot, corals arent completley open, just turned the lights on but I think this is the prettiest RBTA Ive ever seen! Cant wait to see it open up again after its water change. Huge color contrast when my YellowTang passes by it.

glad to see they have new friends ;) Make sure you feed them or try to feed them 2 or 3 times per day... they will be much happier...

Guys, I really need to sell this tank and get it out of here... nobody wants it? If someone can fix the crack, which is just on the back wall, this tank will be as good as new...I am willing to sell the tank, canopy and stand with custom sump that cost me $250... entire set up for $300obo...first one to come pick it up... I need to get it out of the house...

G

ok, a new update... I can get the tank fixed .... the best offer I have had so far for a the package deal (assuming there wasnt a crack, which there wont be once I fix it) was $600... that is for sump, tank, stand, canopy.

That person backed out once he heard the back had a crack.. but now it wont because I will fix it. The tank will be able to be picked up in downtown LA area. The job is being done by a well reputed company that did my current 180gal tank, so you know they are going to fix it right.

So, if anyone wants the deal for $600 , the tank will be sealed and a new pane of glass on the back.. the 3 viewing sides are still starphire and this is one heck of a deal for a starphire eurobraced cube tank.

PM me.

G
