120gal progress pics

Love the Goniopora. I have one that is doing well and I had some questions. How to you take cuttings? (How low to you cut? And then how does this spread? Does it need to attach to rock like scans or does it just get larger itself like frogspawn?

THanks!

Ok so here is a cell phone pic sorry glass is dirty. Remember I harvest these corals on a regular basis so not really much growth showing. Goni is finally a manageable size now.

It's a pain to cut it's so big. I have a tile saw to cut it outside. It grows up in a round ball, just keep getting bigger. The key with gonis is finding them that are tank raised, your chances of them surviving long term are much much better.

So do you cut it like an acan or similar?

I cut a strip all the way around about a 1/2" deep then I use a chisel and hammer to knock it off. Then I take it to the band saw and cut to size. If it's a small Goni you can cut it just like acans. Mine is very very hardy I've probably cut a couple hundred frags and never lost a frag even the very small pieces that end up floating around in the sand bed start to grow. I just pick them out and glue them to a frag plug. I've never seen anything like it
