121a's 20h

your overflow box seems to have a good fall how loud is it? are you using a durso stand pipe? or a stockman or just open pipe?

corals and everyting looks nice though...

and like they said about the reflectors...you would even be far better off with just 2 300W halogen shop lights for those 70w MH...best part is the bulbs should fit right in with no modding..or next to none anyway..wire up your ballast and your good to go...the reflector/shop lights are like ten bucks each...at walmart. or HD...

thanks, the tank is pretty loud for my bedroom, but i will put a pvc pipe like a durso.

As for the reflectors they work for know so why change them.

Cool. Would you be thinking about possibly switching to 14K halides? I think that they would bring more color out in your corals.

You may also want to add a Hydor Koralia 1 power head for either side of the overflow. -Just a thought...:)

I was thinking that too, about the Korlia but i only have $11. The bulbs are 14,000k with two actinics. When it is time for new bulbs i buy from the same person (on ebay) but get the 20K's I think those will look sweet.

Ok after some decision making i'm upgrading to a 150W Pheonix Metal Halide with a 99% reflective parabolic reflector.

I just took some new shots so here you go...

I should get my new light going in about 2 weeks!

Tank looks good but I have a question, why didn't you go with an external overflow box with such a small tank. I too have a 20g, but went external with the overflow.

i too am in the midst of changing from internal to an external overflow in my 20H...so much more fishy room..and no light blockage...

honestly i had no more money, I'm only 15 with no job, and i did not want to take a chance with one of them overflowing. I can't wait to get my new 150w parabolic light and 14000K Pheonix bulb:rollface:

How do you afford all that stuff. did you save up your allowance,or just get really good deals on ebay.
I am 13 and i am broke:rolleye1:

Got any tips on where to get good quality cheap stuff?

well the previous 70w metal halides cost about $125 shipped.
Ballast wise has great ballasts at great prices.
I got my Aqua C for $75 shipped from another reefer.
JBJ Ato was $80 shipped on ebay.
You just have to look around...

Any one interested in buying the 70w ballast, bulb, and sockets i have im only asking $90 shipped. It is wired with a quick disconnect and i'll thrown in the UV glass as well.

Just got the new 150w metal halide setup so here are some shots. The pictures do not capture the amount of blue the Phoenix bulb puts out.
