I've got the same fixture you do above "my" tank ..... I have seen where Coarlife has come up with a tilting fixture for these Pro series lights ....
Would you share your design with me..??? If it's making things more convenient for you, I'd like to try it for myself.... It's a real pain to work around it now because it's only 6" above the tank ....
Thanks
Bob
Thank you very much, to keep sand clean you add a sandsifter, like a diamond goby, attach a UV sterilizer to the tank, use LS from the beginning not playsand, have a refugium, and have enough fish to eat the food before it hits the ground.Deep6 said:Your tank looks unbeleavable! I saw a post as to how you keep your sand so clean...so how do you? Also where have you been buying your corals?
You should wait till mine is done, I designed it out but the guy building it with me took the plans, I tried redoing it in the computer and it didn't work out. The light actually sits on rail and you can slide it back an additional 4 inches, I didn't want to have the light go up and down because I don't think I really need it for the fixture. I'm sure I'll think of a bunch of new stuff suring construction so wait for me to make all of the mistakes.fishman805 said:So I'm assuming that you will have better access to your tank then..?? GregM779 said:Here's today's update, I used a fishtrap to catch my Foxface, he's been nipping for a couple of months now but recently has gotten much worse. I'm taking him in for credit today. To make it more fun the trap fell apart, my light fixture held up with one hand and the end of the trap breaking and my foxface about to jump out splashing about 2 gallons of water on me, I really need to video this stuff.
I was putting my cespitularia (true blue xenia) into the display from my refugium now that the xenia eater was gone and my Scott's fairy wrasse jumped behind the stand, this is with me standing right there with my hands in the tank. I throw down the coral, try to get him from the side of the tank with a net, no luck. Reach behind my refugium through my stand and grab him with my bare hands. I held him in the tank for a minute and let him catch his breath. He gave me a look like "I'm sorry for being an idiot I'll never do it again" and I let him swim away, he seems a little shaken but otherwise perfectly fine.
fishman805 said:Yes you should have had someone taping that .... I'm sure it was no fun while it was going on though ..... Try pulling out 1 1/2 pound Oscars out of a 150 when they know that they are going somewhere else.... You will not go away dry.... Those and a 15" plycostomus catfish.... That's when I was transitioning the tank from FW to what I got now.....

Thanks, I haven't had the water tested in about 2 months so maybe I'll do it next week and post.mike89t said:Fantastic tank! What are your water parameters? Have you had any problems with Phospherus or waste build up in your DSB?

One is alkalinity plus, one is hardness plus, and one is Iodine. I dose about an ounce and a half of the first 2 every day and use a bottle of iodine about every 2 months.cmc5dc said:Greg,
The mid part of this thread showed your sump and in front was a product what appeared to look like "natureef". Would you care to comment on your dosing of these 3 products?
Thanks
