125 redo, with questions.......

Just recently I got this marineland reef ready, dual corner over flow 125 for a steal. But the front glass has some minor scratches in some places and I'm not a big fan of those top to bottom overflows, so I've decided to remove the overflows and flip the tank around. The back glass is in great shape by the way, no scrathes. The bottom glass was factory drilled for one return and one drain, on each side and I plan on drilling the back ( which was the front) glass in two places for the new drains and boxes.

Now, there are two ways to make this happen: 1) Cap the existing holes with bulkheads and caps or 2) Silicone glass pieces over the holes.

What would you do?

I had a friend seal overflows with silicone and a peice of glass. I think both will work fine but with it being on the front of u tank the glass would be easily covered by sand and unnoticed.
