125gal Stand Plans

I would seriously inspect the stand before I agreed but it may be worth it. Doesn't hurt to look

BTW, a 125g is 72X18X21 (actually 117g) where a 135g is 72X18X24 (actually 134g). That 3" height difference is how you can tell them apart.

Interesting, I thought 125's were 24" tall. Learn something new every day. I'll thoroughly inspect both if he gets back to me. At $125 - the cost of reselling the tank, I'm basically only interested in the bones of the stand. I can pretty it up easily. Hopefully the cabinet doors are a standard size that I can get off the shelf at Lowes or Home Depot.

Well, he's still got the tank, I hope it's in good shape. I'd love to buy this for $125, sell the tank for $100, and have a $25 6' stand. If the tank is in good shape, I may just sell the one I've already got. 3 extra inches never hurt anybody.

I got the tank and stand. The stand is built like a brick sh... It's really sturdy, all 2x6 frame construction. The whole front is basically doors, so access will be very simple. I may put doors on the ends for even better access.

The tank itself is very dirty, and VERY heavy. Heavier than my 125 for sure. I haven't measured, but I suspect the glass is thicker. The top frame doesn't have cross beams on it, which should make it considerably easier to light without shadow. I think I'll keep it and sell off my 125gal.

For an extra $25, he threw in a 55gal tank and stand as well. I plan to use the 55gal for a sump, and I'll sell off the stand for cheap.

Long story short, I made out like a bandit. I expect to break even or make a profit after I sell off the extra stuff.

A bit of bad news, the tank that came with the package has a cracked frame right on the corner, and the glass is bowing out a bit there. Seeing as replacement 125gal frame seems to be extremely hard to find, I'm thinking I'll throw it on craigslist for $50 for a reptile tank, or let someone else sort it out.
