12G Mr Aqua Build

Thanks everyone!

Can someone help me out I have this new tank algae issue and I want to know if this will go away naturally and from a clean up crew or should I look at GFO? This was fully cured dead rock when I started. I'm stumped because my Nitrates and Phosphates are both quite low.

Here are my parameters:

Data from Apex and Red Sea Pro Test Kits
Temperature 79.6
Calcium 410
Alkalinity 8.00
Magnesium 1400
PH 8.06
Salinity 1.026
PO4 – Phosphate 0.04
NH4 – Ammonia 0.00
NO2 – Nitrite 0.00
NO3 – Nitrate 0.20
Light Cycle 10 hours

Here is a picture of the algae, it has a lot of bubbles on it.

I'm pretty sure that's part of the cycling process and will go away. It happened with my dry rock too and went away on it's own. Snails can't hurt. Turbos will probably eat it but you have to worry about them knocking down stuff. I have not had any problem with that but I've heard people say it. I usualy keep with trochus and margaritas along with hermits.

Very nice tank by the way. Can you buy tanks that dimension or did you have yours custom made?

Here in an equipment update.
The Apex is running flawlessly.

I'm using a BRS dosing pump to manage my top-off. It adds 100ml of RO/DI every 2 hours and it does a great job keeping conductivity in line.

I also love the Cobalt Aquatics NeoTherm Heater. I'm running the 75W in my tank. The Apex is set to maintain tank temperature between 79.5 and 80. What is great is that the set point on the heater is 80 as well so it's a double check.

My PH has been running between 7.8 - 8.0. I recently added activated carbon to my AquaClear 50 to tone down chemical warfare of my new frags and I saw a single day jump from 8.0 to 8.2 from that. It has since dropped back down to the previous levels.

graphs are pretty cool.. im diggin the footprint of the 12gallon, id go for an island approach (viewable from 3 sides) for the final location

That's the plan! Im trying to minimize the equipment inside the tank without having a sump. I'll post some pictures of my AIO add on I have planned for this tank.

Looks nice! I wouldn't be too concerned about the algae and I wouldn't put much faith in the nitrite/nitrate number. The algae is likely consuming it so the readings will be low. Just let it run its course and add a few snails to help it along.

That is one sweet setup right there! And I must say the whole setup is very clean and the same setup I would do in terms of design!

Corals are looking good, thanks for the pics!

How's the heat build up in the drawer?

Look's great so far.

A little advice, go slow now. Let things settle in.
