I use to have a 12G nanocube and heat was a MAJOR concern for me

anything with regards to the 2006 nanocubes and the aquapods?

My Aquapod will heat the water up if the lid is all the way down. I have it propped open about 1.5 inches right now and the tank stays even.

I've had that same issue for a while now. I've got a 12dx '05 model and that thing was always overheating. with the lights off it was still getting to 86-87, add the lights to that and it got to 88 a few times. Luckily their customer support is great, they sent me a new pump ( which puts out more gph than the other and doesnt generate as much heat) that solved part of the problem, with the lights off, the tank dropped from 85 down to 80, so now they're sending me a new canopy to try... if that doesnt work, well its everything so I dont know what else to look into... maybe one of the systems by nanocustoms?

So, what pump are you using now, snarkes?

I have run reefs at 79-82 with no problems. What is the problem with the temperature? Do your animals seem stressed? What are you keeping?

Angela.

My 06 12 gal Dx runs 79 with the lights on for 8- 9 hours. At night it runs at 77 degrees.Pump is a maxi-jet 600.It ran at the same temp with the stock pump.

No one has mentioned what the ambient room temperature is your tank is in. I am sure this plays a big part in the water temps.

I've got an 05 NC 12DX.
I swapped out the stock pump for a MaxiJet900, which didn't seem to change the temps either way. I'm in West LA, and ambient temps are usually 68-72. My tank runs at about 77 degrees constant. Without the heater the temp dropped too low at night.

However, come summer, when the ambient temp goes higher (and I have no AC), my tank will prob be around 84-85 at it's hottest. I try to run the lights in a bit of a reverse cycle to help with the problem.

I really want a 24 gallon AP or NC, but the temps are of concern to me since we don't have AC.

i took off the hood to my 24gallon nano, and am using a coral life light that i just sit above the tank, to allow excess heat to escape, i plan on getting a small mh for it, but i dont know what that will do to the head, i just might have to put my heater on a timer to turn off for an hour every 3 hours or so
