i'm at work all night. power at home went off, the entire block, at 4:45. my wife called and recording first said it will be on by midnight. now they said by 5:30. this is all due to " an overhead wire." anyway my tank is an open top 92 corner. various sps, few LPS and 4 fish w/ alot of cleanup crew critters. tank is 4 yrs old, lots of LR and sand. is 12 hrs too long w/ no movement?no i don't have a generator or inverter and i'm at work all night. i'll be home by 8.

I've always heard if worse comes to worse.....as it seems it has.....keep the water stirred up occasionally to keep the water oxygenated. That's the main issue, so I would say make sure someone is there to "stir" up the tank once in a while.....No expert that's just what I've come to understand. Best of luck

TK im at work. do u honestly think my wife w/ a baby is gonna be hooking up cordless drill w/ batt pump i don't have w/ paint stirrer i dont have... come on. i don't need suggestions, i just want to hear from anyone who's had pwer outage experience and if i will be ok w/ 12 hrs no power. i can't even have her stir it up since she went to her mom's w/ my son...

ok well do you really think you are going to get help talking to people like that!!! i was just trying to give some ideas so all you s*** doesnt die!!! good luck with you attitude!!!!!!!

since it's an open top she can get a container of some sort, i.e. tupperware, fill with tank water then pour back into tank, repeat a number of times (10 or so). have her pour as high as she's comfortable with, you want to break the surface tension and get a little movement.

okay - nix that since i just read where she's left the building.

what do you mean chill. i know your under stress about your tank and i would be too. but there is no reason to be rude. all i was trying to do was help.

See if you can get some battery operated air pumps to use in just such an emergency. There probably will be a next time and it is always better to be prepared. They are very simple to use and will provide some cirulation and oxygen in the tank when there is no other power being supplied to the aquarium.

Glad to hear that everything is ok.
