Hey RC I am currently cycling my new rimless cube. It is goin to be a zoa dominate tank with 10gallon hob filter, with chemi pure elite and 3 half gallon water changes weekly. As for lighting its going to be two panorama led b/w modules. There is about an inch sandbed and maby 4lbs of LR. Heres a pic will put more up as soon as it clears up and get the scape situated

Im doing the same but going to go with a picoaquarium build db18 tank. Just a fyi, if you go with one of these filter it will surface skim and keep the "oil slick" to a minimum. I found it and am giving it a try.

Thats one thng that i dislike about most of the hang on back filters. This one has a floating surface skimmer and automatically adjust even as evaporation occurs.

I HATE the film i get on top of the water I will definitely look into it thanks for the info and let me know how they work as far as keeping the surface skimmed.

Me too, i hate that scum on the water surface! I'm currently using this filter and it seems to be working. The cup rises and falls with the evaporation and it seems to surface skim properly! Hell its only a few bucks, how bad can it be! Lol

I took out the biosponge because it works better with just the mechanical and chemical filter. When i used the biosponge i have to reduce the suction in effect filter less water. You can also adjust how much water is drawn from the surface. Ill post a pic here if youd like.

here you go, i got a small heater because when the tank is so small the temp fluctuates alot and i didnt want a big heater inside the tank. trying to keep as little distractions out of the tank.

this is the heater inside the filter

Wow that looks simple and clean hiding the heater... I will definitely look in to getting that filter asap thanks for the pics and info

Btw, this was the smallest filter option offered. So it filters 95 g/hr i think? The $15 filter? The heater is set for 78plus/minus 2 degrees fixed. You cannot change the temp. Its factory set
