130 watts on a 30 gallon

I'm in the process of setting up a small 30 gallon long (36") for some zoas, my question is someone gave me an orbit 2 x 65 watt PC light, will this be good for the zoas, or will I have to upgrade. also ,It's only 30" long it is a little shorter than the tank?

Thanks

I have had that same fixture on a 29 for 3 years with very good results. The 29 is only 30 inches wide, though.

The 30 gallon is shallower than a 29. So the PC's should more than suffice. The only problem you might have would be mounting it on the tank.

I have two tanks, one with PC lighting and the other with T5 lighting. The PC tank does well and the zoos do grow, but the zoos grow almost twice as fast under the T5 lighting and look much more colorful. IMO the PC lighting will work, but you might find yourself wanting to upgrade in the near future. I can say that with confidence, because that what happened to me!

Good luck!

Thank you everyone,
I Had a 4 x 96 watt on a 75 gallon reef and the PC worked but, my zoas weren't as colorful as I liked. I have since turn that into a FOWLR, but miss the zoa's. so I'm setting up a the 30 gallon for a few fish and the zoa's a friend of mine just gave me the 2 x 65 watt light, so I thought maybe I can get a way with it, but like hrstrnr mention is the mounting, but I might use a glass canopy.

I'll probably just start with that and keep my eyes open for a 4 x 39 teklight, is that a good light?

Hey, Dstank. Since you are running both. What is your opinion of shrooms and ricordias under PCs and T5s? Many say the T5s are too bright?

Thanks
