135g build

Went to a buddys house this weekend and he ended up giving me all his old live rock and other stuff from his reef tank. He got out of the hobby years ago. I brought it all home and cleaned it up!

I see a few gallons of vinegar being purchased in your near future.

I'll be watching how your beananimal works for you.

Picked up another goody! Also started a very rough mock up of some plumbing.

For the gate valve on the full siphon, it doesn't really matter how far up or down it is on the drain right?

Thanks Will. All secure now. Even though some people say it won't hold. I guess time will tell. :D

I made a sump out of a glass 75 gal tank and used acrylic for the dividers and was told it wouldn't hold but it has for the last 18 months...Good Luck

Glad to hear that. I've had plenty of people tell me their acrylic baffles/overflow boxes have held on their glass sumps/tanks for a long time. I feel like the people who have theres fall off are not "handy" or don't know how to do things like that and just attempt to make it work? I think the way I have mine attached to the tank is held very well. Not saying it's a forever hold but I know it'll hold for a very long time. But who knows, it could fall off the first week and I'll eat my words ;)

I just did mine with acrylic on glass and it feels like it could hold a Volkswagon lol I agree has to do with adhesion and proper installation

Picked up a 40gal breeder sump. Just needs a cleaning and rearrange the baffles a bit and it'll be good to go! Just need to finish the stand and I'm pretty much there.

Looking great. Thought of drilling my 90, and doing the bean animal. I wish I would have, instead I did a HOB overflow that works ok, but the way you are doing it is much better. I even purchased the overflow kit like yours from Bulk Reef Supply.

Got some more of the stand done today. Top on and faced the front. Gonna do the sides and put on doors the rest of the weekend.

Stand is ready for detailing, water proofing, and staining.

I still need a center piece that I'm going to shoot on the back of one of the center doors to take up the space.

Here is the stain I'm most likely using. I tested it on a couple scrap pieces. This would be how the cabinet would look. Same stain, just colors different being it's two different types of wood.

That looks awesome!!! There is so much room in there

Thank you! Yes, I made the cabinet 24" deep and the top of it is 27". I'm going to cut out the top where the plumbing is going in so I can put it flush against the wall. Hope it works out.

Got the back of the tank done tonight. Also cleaned some stuff with a vinegar bath. I can't wait to get this set up and get the saltwater flowing!
