I'm currently rebuilding my 135G mixed reef tank from scratch and one of the upgrades I plan to make are to my power heads. I was running a read sea wave maker and 4 maxi jet 1200's, needless to say this wasn't the optimal setup.
I have an Apex Lite controller and I plan on using that to control my new powerheads and my thought was to get two 6105's. Here is my shopping list:
Qty Description
1 2-Channel Apex to Stream cable
1 Apex VDM module
2 Tunze Stream 6105
2 Tunze Safety Connector
1 Battery
1 Battery charger
Does this sound about right?
Another couple of questions I had were can you place the outside magnet on the inside of an overflow box? I would do this for two reasons. First, my canopy doesn't allow for a lot of room between it and the glass and second by placing the mount on the side of the powerhead it would reduce the visible footprint. Another question I have is how high on the glass would I want to mount the powerheads? My tank is 24" tall and I would prefer to mount them higher so you wouldn't see as much of the power cord.
Thanks.....
If you want to see my progress on my rebuild I have posted a couple of videos on YouTube
