144W PC enough?

I have a nano-cube and was just wondering if my 144watts of pc lighting would be enough for any species of clam?

Thanks a lot,
Jordan

So... Do you think that is sufficiant or no? If so, what species would everyone suggest as a starter clam seeing that I have never had one before? Derasa? Squamosa? Help please...

Thanks,
Jordan

I'm afraid the answer is no. While it's enough light to maybe sustain a derasa or squamosa, they will quickly outgrow the tank, and even before that, are most often too chemically demanding on such a small system.

While Maxima or crocea would stay small enough, the light intensity (PAR) isn't enough. If you used a 150w Metal Halide bulb, then the PAR would be sufficient.

So... is a 150w MH more powerful than 144w of PC by more than just 6w? I dont know too much about metal halide lighting other than how hot it gets. haha.

150w of MH is probably 3-4x stronger than 144w of PC. You gotta look into the PAR ratings and not watts.

Lighting is very much about the "intensity"

Metal Halides are much more intense than VHO or PC lighting and that's what the maximas and croceas need.
