thanks for your time.

I'm about to replace my 250 watt 14K bulbs with new 250 watt 10k bulbs. Do i need to acclimate my corals to the new color?

Yes.

IMO, with any bulb change [to new bulbs] I would.

For 14k -> 10k, there's a great increase in intensity. Add to that the fact that for the first 100 hours or so, many bulbs burn MUCH more intensely than later in life. IMO, double reason to take it slow - things bleach fast, but brown out slow IMO.

Combine that with the fact that different bulbs have different peaks of intensity [different wavelengths] that vary from each other. Some are huge spikes [such as many 20k] that IMO should be acclimated to, even if there's an overall decrease in intensity with these bulbs.

IMO, better safe than sorry. Most corals can handle a while of lower than preferred light - and a far shorter time of higher than acceptable.
