Replaced 3 10k's with Phoenix 14k bulbs, nice blue color. The tank looks a lot better.

What are you going with Jimmy?
I got a interesting suggestion today, run 3 20k's and 2 10k's in my fixture next. After seeing the difference with the 14k's, I may have to do that next.

I am going to be running (6) 250 PFO mini's

10k 20k 10k 20k 10k 20k

with 220 watts of actinic front and back.

I will also at the same time be adding a second 1/2 HP chiller in line for backup.

If you are running them on HQI ballasts than they burn in much whiter than they are now. They still are good bulbs, but dont' end up nearly as blue after a few weeks.

Hey Sully,
I'm so glad to see someone who got the phoenix 14's. I've been contemplating the switch to them . Do you really like the color they put off? They seem to be getting some great reviews. Did you get them local or did you find them online?
Thanks,

I agree, that's why I switched to Radiums and am selling mine. After 2 months they get really white and I don't run any VHO's or pc's.

I have mine running on electronic ballasts. I had one lamp on my 56gal for over a month before adding another lamp setup. The colors were identical to the human eye. I was concerned at first that the new lamp would look different, but there was none that I could tell.
I have a friend that runs his Phoenix lamps on mag ballasts & they are whiter than mine.

just installed my 14ks last week and they are great (so far).i was having troubles with my evc 10ks and my ballasts but these bulbs seem to be running smoothly. hope the color doesnt change to much.

I run them currently and am thinking of switching. I used to run 10k XM and my zoos and corals grew like weeds but switched mainly for astethics. I ran actinics with my xmÃ"šÃ‚´s and it was still to yellow. I switched to the Phoneix 14k and things really slowed down. Also I am running this on a PFO M80 (HQI) and these bulbs seem dim to me for a Halide bulb. I dont know if anyone feels the same. Not the intenisty I expected.

Im not too sure that I am as happy with my pheonix after a few months. Like Mbunaman said, it doesnt seem lik ethe intensity is there.

Rod what would you recommend? I am looking for a bulb with the similar color or so because I love the way blueish white tanks look. But I want a strong intensity look to it. But no yellow. I know I am difficult ;). By the way I have 250 W HQI bulbs. Any help would be appreciated.

Im not too sure anymore. I am pretty happy with the 400 DE coralvue lamps.I am very happy with the single ended Reeflux lamps and I am waiting to try some of their DE lamps. I am hoping that I will be just as happy. Ive tried a few of th eEVC lamps for a customer, and I am not to pleased with those. They have a lot of PAR but didnt look th ebest, and one even burned out within less than a month.

I love my 250w Radiums on HQI ballasts. I don't run any actinic and to me they look a nice crisp blueish white. I was running 14kPhoenix mixed with them at first, 2 of each. They looked really good in the beginning, but then the Phoenix turned too white for me after about 6 weeks of use.
