14k vs. 20k metal halide bulbs, does anyone knows the diffrence between the two aside from the color it produces?

:)

More often than not you will also find that the PAR increases as you go lower into the kelvin spectrum i.e 20k<14k, 14k<10k and so forth.

Also remember that one manufacturer's 14K bulb is not the same as another manufacturer's 14K bulb. I personally like the 20K bulb because of the color. I went from 10K to 14K to 20K. With a 10K bulb, my living room was REALLY BRIGHT (even my neighbor asked me about the spot light in my living room); with a 14K bulb my living was bright enough to read with; with a 20K bulb, I have to turn on the living room light when I want to read.

Very true, there was some recent discussions passed regarding that topic, and how some 14ks were actually more like 18-20k, while the 20k's were well in excess of 20, while other manufacturers kelvin ratings were fairly right on the money.

even bulb to bulb. My recomendation, look at a few tanks that have either, look at Sanjay Joshi's site and articles and choose one.......if you don't like it or have poor results....try another. most of us have a few used bulbs in the closet because of that. People really make too big of a deal about this, even I am guilty, but its only a portion of it. So buy the color you like to look at best.

what wattage and type bulb do you have?

Well that sucked.
I wanted info on 150W DE's and the only bulbs tested were Aquaconnect

Hoh well.
Had some good info on other wattages though.
