15 gal nano build

Well I have decided on just about everything and have officially started up the process. I plan to use some older equipment I had as well as some new led lights.

Tank 15 gal show 24.5''w 16"h 8.5"d back wall drilled
the filter will be a 10gal tank divided with at least 3 bays
inlet area bottom feed to overflow onto mechanical filter and
into a heater and return pump secton also houseing the protien skimmer
CPR sr2 skimmer useing a rio 600
rio 2500 for return flow
planning on doing a wall to hide some of the drain and inlet plumbing
useing a diy cree led kit 24.25" heat sink with 12 led 3 CW 3 NW and 6 RB
waiting to see if optics will be needed
useing an old pine tv stand to house the filter while raising the tank to higher level for viewing.

Will get pictures on tomarrow. Currently fresh water testing the plumbing, and laying out the led set up.

Well took some photos of the system running now for about 24 hours. ITS DRY! mind you I do have to set up the divider walls in the sump but they will be more for bubble restriction and to keep large particulate outta my pump via the mechanical filter. the down pipe will be hidden behind the wall as will the return trying to decided if i should put on the bending pipe for that for better aim of the water flow.

The LED kit came and all units are in good working order now if I had jsut ordered all the parts I needed :headwally:

Next steps will be to divide the sump into its parts and make the wall.
I have seen many people use great stuff pond for the wall. Can you use fiberglass as I would like the ability to form the wall itself some for around the down pipe and for the return. If not i will have to get creative with the foam.

ok now the wife throws in her .02 She would like to have a yellow head jawfish. Would a DSB be ok in such a small tank, useful or otherwise?

I wouldn't do a DSB in the DT, too much of a change to stir it up and crash the whole tank. Save that for a sump/fuge.

And a bluespot jawfish is cooler, don't show your wife one!

she really just loves the brilliant white body as I usally lean a little heavy on the atinic color and real gives it a angelic look

Waiting on my driver wires for leds now, got all of my stuff for the wall and gave my 7 year old instructions on how to "help" make big rocks into little rocks for the wall (he was very excited to throw them against the sidewalk shattering my 20lb rock into many little rocks.

Have to rethink overflow box as the way I wanted to do it will not work.
New idea is to make a full length trough overflow with center box on downpipe out of corian thoughts?

Well the new overflolw is put together just gotta let dry and then clean it up and install it
Also have to cut the slots but this will hopefully skim the top off nicely and allow for a really nice and quiet flow

well skip fwd a few weeks and we have a little livestock and a lotta rock. Made a LED canopy just waiting on a terminal block to get other side lit up. Sump is well stocked now with a lot of liverock and some cheato. Diatoms came and went this weekend.
