I just bought a 150 gallon tank with a wet dry, 2 aqua clear 500's, vho lighting, and sand. I am going either just get rid of the aqua clears of convert them into refugiums havent decided yet. I know i need a protein skimmer, a pump for the wet dry, and a lighting upgrade. The lights on there now are 4 36" vho lights 2 actinic and 2 10k. I think that may work fine but i was going to add in 2 36" stunner strips to help boost the color of the coral as well as acting as a moon light. Now as far as the pump for the wet dry im not sure which i should go with but i would prefer the pump that obviously turns the tank over enough but also draws the least power. It doesnt need to be super quiet (going to be in my living room). When it comes to the protein skimmer i would like to diy it just to make it a bit cheaper but i havent really seen any designs i would trust for a tank this big.
Any way all suggestions would be helpful im trying to get this tank setup right and im a bit of a noobie. I have a 38 fully planted fresh water and a 45 cichlid but im not 100% when it comes to coral and salt in general.
