150w DE MH

I have a 150w DE MH with a 14k Phoenix bulb.

Wondering if this light will be appropriate for SPS which are approximately 12" below the surface.

The tank itself is 16" tall, but the distance to the water surface to the sandbed is about 12".

I just went and measured it.

It may be a tad more than 4", but certainly no more than 5 1/2"

There is a piece of UV glass over the bulb and all the pieces in the canopy are waterproof.

Not much else I can go with a 6" tall canopy.

I have the same light... 6-7 inches from the water. I can keep anything at the top of the tank with good color. But at even halfway down the tank most of it browns out.

The only things I can keep at halfway are monti's, green slimer and stylophora.

Keep a close eye on your water parameters though! I neglected my Mg and my cali tort turned green on me even at the very top of the tank, I brought my Mg back up and its a beautiful blue again.
