That tank is a 220, based on his posts a Manhattan reefs, which I'm a member of as well. From the pics he posted on there that same tank had an eel, a grouper and something else in it, but NO shoal tang. You guys should check out that site, it is great for a laugh. So many guys on there with 2 months of experience that KNOW everything.

not A 220GAL,LOOK CLOSER AT MY THREAD TWO DIFFRENT TANKS THREADS
PLUS WHAT YOU LAUGHING AT???? WHO NEEDS EXPERIENCE TO LIKE FISH??
EVERYONE WAS A NEBBIE AT ONCE,YOU MUST BE A EXPERT

your right, to many guys think they are A+ reefers
I had this tank running for 12 years and had sharks and other big tangs in there but I decided to turn it into a reef tank now so that why i want to know what fish i can get in there

I'm pretty sure the laughable part was them having two months experience and knowing everything.
I wasn't talking about Jarret having NO experience, I was talking about others on the site as Jarret knows all to well as a member of that site. But I knew if I baited you Jarret you would but your pics up on here LOL:dance:

you got me then!!!:blown:

It is really sad so many want to attack the op, say the tank isn't what he says , says there is no tang, etc, etc, etc...
Beautiful fish. I have a 10" yellowfin tang that makes it hard for other fish to eat. I have to feed a lot and spread it all over the tank. I agree with what others have said about smaller fish like damsels, dwarf angels, maybe a purple tang. Either way I wouldn't add anything larger than 4" to that tank. I've had success adding new angels with my existing 11" queen angel by buying the 2" juvi's and growing them out.

If you want larger fish I would try buying a juvi angel (emp, queen, etc...) and growing it out. That way you will have at least 2 years before the fish gets large. Hopefully your sohal won't see the small fish as a threat. Of course you will have to provide plenty of hiding places for any other fish in that tank.

I'm very interested in what fish you are going to try to add and how it turns out. Please keep us updated with your decision and experiences.

No one was attacking the OP. It was all in fun and just trying to get pics provided of such a large and beautiful fish.

I can tell its HUGE by looking at how small the eyes are on his body. I believe the OP that he is at or near 16 inches. I would not add any tangs with him, He is a show fish.
Add a bunch of small fish like alleni damsels that have alot of color and movement. Maybe some blue reef chromis as well. Don't overcrowd the tank with rock, But still have room for him to swim thru and hide. JMO
My sohal is 9 inches and his eyes dont look nearly as small as the 16 incher!!

good point with the eyes
i like the damsel and chromis thing but you think anthais will get picked on. I want to keep it reef safe so i can add some lps

You want fish that are pretty hearty, and are hard tp catch. Damsels and chromis fit that bill quite well. You could add a clown pair as well. I know when my damsels **** my sohal off he cant get near them. They are crafty lil suckers. Alleni are aggressive, But not the worst damsels and i have found can have quite a few of them without too much trouble with each other.
Plus the blue on them is unmatched in brightness.

Before you put any small fish in there you need some more rock for them to hide in.

The advantage to putting small fish in the tank is that they can hide in the rock work quick enough to where the sohal can't get to them. If you have minimal rockwork, it obviously defeats that advantage lol.

Gorgeous fish though!

I would personally go with like 15 Lyrtail anthias and some less aggressive damsels. That's after the rock situation gets addressed though.

I agree with others, I think chromis and/or damsels are going to be the only option. I would expect anything else will be killed if you're only looking at reef safe fish.

Maaaaybe you could get away with an angelfish of similar size, but that will likely not be entirely reef-safe.
