165 watt wifi controlled black box led light - lost wifi control

Bought a couple of Reef Radiance Starfire LEDs when they were on sale last year for $150. Reef Radiance doesn't answer the phone (Rik does have an answering machine to screen calls - likely to take money from new orders but then not service paid customers), reply to emails or their web forms. I've been trying to reach them for several months now. And they've dropped sponsorship of the major forums, so something is obviously up with them. Buyer beware. Anyway, the problem is these lights use a wifi link to program the 3 channels, and while it worked it was very nice since I could dim down to moonlights only (3 Royal Blue LEDs) and ramp up. But then I started having problems with the lights/program: one light was running much faster - even though they were supposedly set up as slave/master. Then today I wifi'd in to synchronize clocks as I have to do on occasion when the clocks would get too far off... and now I can't get a connection using the app (AqDim5) for the lights. I can still see the wifi from the lights on my phone (i.e. I can connect my phone's wifi to the light's wifi in wifi Settings), but then when I open the app it says it can't connect. To make matters worse I reset the lights and now they aren't running a program, just on. I've scanned the forums and I see lots of problems with these wifi black boxes (GalaxyHydro etc.) and while I'm probably SOL I figured I'd throw a request to see if anyone else has seen this issue, with or without a solution. At least I can use the lights in manual mode with simple on/off with the dimmer pots, but lose independent control of the moonlight channel. BEst case maybe someone has a solution to the wifi problem. I see there is a wifi module in the light and if I can find a cheap source perhaps I'll try replacing it with the same module. TIA

I just stumbled on this thread. Being curious i checked there site.. Then I decided to check out there warranty... I am not sure how they sell anything. There are so many CAPS ON WHAT NOT TO DO.. Calling them with a warranty or REPAIR request apparently .. CAUSES A MUCH LONGER DELAY . in getting a decision on rather they will help you or not....

I have a Habit of reading the warranty for a product before i buy

Good Luck .

I have a ReefRadiance fixture that is very similar to the old Reef Breeders Photon but it has a different controller. The controller jumps out of CUSTOM mode every 2 or 3 days to SUNNY or MANUAL. It was a problem a number of users had in the recent past so I figured it would be an easy fix. Send me a new $10 controller, I'd install it and we'd be good. I tried and tried to get help from them and all they did is stall and evade. They never offered any real help.

I'm about to open it up and see if I can install a controller from a Reef Breeders Photon (old model). It's a bit smaller, but they are both built by EverGrow and appear to be 99.99% the same.

Moral of the story, don't buy from Reef Radiance!
