Just recently got a 16g bowfront. I believe it is 20'' across. There are not a lot of choices for moderate coral lighting to fit the size of the tank. Most are too long. What do you recommend? ... no MH..
I can only find a 30 watt VHO that is 18''.. This wont be enough. THis is under 2 watt/gal. What kind of lighting to people use on smaller tanks? Is this something I am going to have to build myself? hehe
Actinic is not required but it is sometimes nice to have. The bulb that comes with it does more then a good enough job providing the proper light for almost any animals you could want to keep. It does have white and blue LEDs for a dawn dusk effect. The 14kk bulb thats comes with it floureces corals pretty well.
Here is a pick of an acro I have under the same lighting!
I'm pretty sure you will be happy with the lighting as it runs pretty cool as well. Pleasing color to the eye and your corals will look great along with grow well. Plus you would only have to replace the bulb once a year instead of multiple bulbs. I have a thread going with many successful reefs maintained with only single halides.
I have a 29g mixed reef running under a K2 Viper clip on and am loving it! I am very happy with the product and would recommend it to anyone! I have never tried seahorses and corals in the same tank and am really excited about trying it out. What about a couple 30 watt VHO? I am thinking the front one (bow side) might hang off the edge a little... that might bother me though!
