175 mh over 7 gal

So would that be overkill? I already have 40 watts pc but I want a clam and sps. Would I be able to keep either if I added 40 more watts of pc? I just happen to to have a 175 mh ballast lying around, so I could figure out how to mount that if push comes to shove. I'd rather just add more pc light.

yeah... the evap would be crazy unless you put it so high up.... it really is a waste or energy unless you got it in a room with no windows to the outside and you want some house plants there... or if you got the money a top off and chiller would do the trick to... but on such a small tank thats pretty wastefull too.

i dont know if you could add the 40 more watts and call it good for sps and clams, but the 175 could be done. I'd put it rather high up from the tank tho if possible. Just dont have it so close, you know?

i did 150w double end MH pendanted over a 12gallon bow front was about 8 inches off the surface of the top of the tank only fans where the built in ones and i didnt have any trouble with water temps tho a 7gallon you might wana have an aditional fan near by
