175g seahorse tank need tank mates

Well this is going to be a slow project as iam going to spread the horses out over a couple year time span i dont want a bunch the same "age" so to speak

I am very interested to see how your tank goes. Currently we have a 125 with quite a few corals, (softies and zoas) and a mandarin. We have had up to 12 seahorses in ours with no problem. As long as you do your water changes, and are skimming adequately with a proper clean up crew, 20 should be no problem. Not to mention, if you are looking for seahorses, please let me know, as i currently have more than 50 available in beautiful colors. If you would like to see any pics, just let me know. Thanks.

"big" horse tanks...

"big" horse tanks...

Our seahorse tank is a 95G Oceanic Wave tank with a 20G sump. We use a protein skimmer which helps with the feeding load.

We have a green mandarin, pair of percula clownfish, a Bangaii Cardinalfish, pair of red firefish and a pair of twin spot Gobies in there with our 4 mated pairs of H. Reidi. The other fish give the horses a wide berth and don't even seem to pay attention when the males expel their fry. (We try to quickly remove the fry to a separate nursery)

The seahorses have the run of the tank and are not bothered by their tankmates... all is well with this combination (so far).

Just our experience...

We have a 140 seahorse tank. Erectus and Comes.

Tankmates include:

Alligator Pipefish
Bluestripe Pipefish
Pajama Cardinal
Citron Goby
3 Firefish
Mandarin
Scooter Blenny
Pink Spotted Goby
3 Peppermint Shrimp
1 Pistol Shrimp
3 red brittle stars

There are a lot of pretty soft corals that are seahorse friendly and sway in the current, add color and movement, and make interesting hitching posts.

My seahorses enjoy a mat of green star polyps...they like to hunt in it for falling mysis... they don't seem affacted by any of the zooanthids, and on some of the larger zoos, use the stalks as hitching posts...
