:(

well... for the last year, i've been doing a full zeovit system... everything was thriving and my acros were literally growing like weeds(never thought i'd be able to say that prior to zeo)... what i was lacking though was color... thought it was always because my lack of nutrients.. so i decided to add some potassium nitrate... that's when everything went downhill... in a week's time i raised nitrates from 0ppm to about 3ppm... i started getting burnt tips... i trimmed off the burnt tips hoping it would just grow back but it didn't... tn just kept going and going... now my favorite colonies(colonies i've had for years) are gone and most of what's remaining is half dead.. only acros(i had many LARGE colonies that i grew from 1" frags) are affected... everything else is still growing like weeds... i was dosing about 160ml of alk solution a day when everything was going good... it's dropped down to 108ml now... i really feel like giving up now... my acros were the main corals i've been working so hard for all these years and now they're almost all gone....the top half of my tank is going to look very bare once the rest of my acros are gone :sad1:

Check your salinity too, potasium nitrate will stick around so do a good size water change, so sorry about your loss.

Sorry to see that Henry, I just started to dose Brightwell's Potassium-P a week ago and 1 off my pieces from RR is starting to stn. Now I'm having thoughts to stop. Don't let this stop you from reefing, you'll bounce back.

I use the red sea coral colors pro test kit for potassium. Best one I have found yet. It's a pita to do the test but we'll worth it. I myself was running low on nutrients and was going to start dosing potassium. But after testing I found I was high in potassium but low in other trace elements. Anyone who wants me to test there trace elements feel free to swing by. No charge of corse. Always happy to help another member.
