This pic is of a tank I had about 6-7years ago. I had 12 Gem Tangs in this 500g tank and I have a shot with 6 of them feeding on a nori clip here:

I don't think I have one with all twelve because there were some dominant SOB's that would keep several of them down by forcing them behind the rocks. This was like expensive Cockfighting.

So that's where the last 7 years world wide quota of Gem Tangs went! I was looking for one of those, geez, no wonder I couldn't find any, you had them all! :)

I kept one for myself and this was about the time I was going through a divorce and I was forced to sell my setup including the Gem Tang. Lawyers!!!

I hope you didn't spend $18k on fish. That's not a question. I really don't care to know.

Why not??? And that is a question :D ..

Have you seen people spending $600 on 1 single zoa polyp? I'd rather spend $2000 on this cool looking fish.

Sir Crabby,

one could easily assume that but, the seed for divorce came prior and from a substance that my ex could not control. Back when this pic was taken it wasn't as big of a deal because the price wasn't where it's at now. Back then I believe the price was 1200.00 to 1500.00 tops. Maybe marinecenter had it at 2K back then. I just can't believe the price is where it's at now.

I sort of wish that I still had mine as well. I am certain that I will not be able to work another tang in the mix that I have now. I'll be interested in how your (NAGA) pack accepts one.

My experience with Gem Tangs makes me very confident that I can add one to my tank. As you know hmoore I have a tough group to deal with. Gem Tangs are real SOB's with major attitude. They are not the ones that get beat up on rather they are the ones that do the beating up. I have seen this in numerous tanks as I saw where most of what I had go into. In my case I would be wise to put a medium size one in. For most others I would suggest the smallest one possible so that it will be less likely to pounce on the other tangs in your tank. I don't quarantine fish usually but, this fish must be not for the reason of what is paid but, rather due to the fact they are gutted for 3 days prior to shipping and in a weakened state when they arrive. They are very susceptable to gut parasites and really have to be isolated and if they can take medicated flake food.........all the better.

sweet pic naga....we had one in our shop that just sold...man he was a cutie, i took several pics and a movie of him because who knows if i will see another.....once again very sweet pic man.
