Do you guys think that a 180 gal tank & a 90 gal sump with be safe on the second floor of my home? I know thats a lot of weight. It will be against where 2 outside walls meet if that helps. thanks

Weight is one concern, but so is water. What is below that could really pay the price if something catastrophic happened?

In my home, I positioned my much smaller tank to run horizontal with my floor supports, and if this tank were to leak while I was on vacation, my washer and dryer area of my basement would be the only victim.

basically 270 gallons of water volume whew, I dunno man, I'd probably think twice about it. Rock weighs more than the water that it displaces. I'd say keep it downstairs. I had a 125 reef and lived on the second floor of an apartment building and I worried quite a bit, I can't imagine doubling that. I know it's possible and people have done it, but if I were going to do that, I'd try to get the floor braced to accomodate for so much weight in such a concentrated area.

I wouldn't suggest anything bigger than 100g on the 2nd floor without a general contractor examining your house before you setup. Just being conservative and careful.
