180 Gallon Frankenstein

Well, it's been quite a while since I have made an update. I'd like to say I have tons more pictures of everything, but since the crash, I didn't take very many. I should have I guess but it was so bad that I didn't want to keep looking at it. But it all starts again here soon.

I got the cyano under control and pretty well wiped out even with no CUC at all. The only stuff left is my sailfin Tang and an engineer goby.

When I set this tank up, I had coral attached to about every piece of rock I had so I never really aquascaped, I couldnt really I would have buried coral. But since everything didn't make it, it was quite obvious that it needed redone and done right. I had more rock that I aquired and have had sitting around in buckets. So I added some more and rescaped.

Also, I would say part of my problem also stemmed from my light cycle. I was running 12 hours of light. 12 on VHO after I added them and 11 of MH. I have cut back to 6 total hours of light. 5 MH and 6 VHO this came after lots of reading and I figured why not. Not like I have anything to lose. The effect is pretty clear. Literally. The water looks much cleaner, the sand is staying whiter and the rock has no crud build up from excessive algae. The shortened light cycle is here to stay.

There will be more pictures coming in the next few days. I made a cover for the front of the hood so you aren't getting blinded when looking at the tank and the rock looks much different.

I don't have a CUC but I am ordering some next week I think. and I am still saving for an IN 250. Lots going on with the tank, but all slowly. No hurry at all.
