Well decided to start the stand since the tank will be here in less than a month. So thought I would show some DIY picture of the progress. I'm not done yet but still have a few things I need to get before I can finish it.

First pic is a drawing of what I'm shooting for.

Top will be 2x6's and the base will be 2x4's

In this pic I have cut out the width of the 2x4 and 2x6 so it will fit into place giving the tank something to rest on but yet support from top to bottom of stand.

Here you can see how it rest in place

The boards accross the top of the stand will also be legs that will be between the 2x4 and 2x6. there will be 2 centered legs on the back and 1 center brace in the front.

Have not started the Canopy yet that will be some time in the next week or two.

What will be under the tank? If that is what you are asking.. Nothing, but Three Ballast at this time any how. 100gallon sump will be in basement.

The 240 was glass cages also wasn't it? That was a heavy tank! Seemed almost overkill for how braced it was. Very sturdy tanks!

Here is a pic of the what the doors will look like I was just making sure everything fit right before I add the Oak, and it should work just fine.

Couldn't take it had to bring it inside to see how it will look and how much room it will take up. Lot more than I thought, but it will still work fine.

While I was at it I made a stand to set the 55gal drum of fresh Salt Water on. This will set right next to the sump and the drum will be drilled with a 1" line with a ball valve so when I empty out the Old water I can just dump the new water in. On the bottom I will set my Hammerhead return pump going back up stairs.

Ok yea, Umm, I taught Lonnie everything he know's. Those are MY tools in the back ground that is making this stuff . I'll just take all the credit thank you.

Lonnie, Your tank will only look good if you load it up with those really neat "glass anemone". I'll give you some of your's back as soon as your ready.

Who got shot in the grassy knoll across the street from your house ?

Will you be able to level the tank properly with the foam being that thick ?

You might consider the thinner pink stuff.
If it is a glass tank I think they recommend that you only foam the parameter of the tank and not put pressure on the bottom of the glass in any way shape or form.

This tank is made like an acrylic tank Solid glass bottom with no trim like most tanks. The foam is 1/2" think Glass cages sites recommends 3/4".

Leveling the tank is going to be a problem. The stand is squared but the room is not level at all. I have always read when building stands to square the stand then level it with solid wood shims so they don't give.

The house across the street from me... Wow that was a fun story too. I was out side working on the stand when my son came up to me and said "Dad is that house on fire" I looked up and at the time there was just a little smoke coming out the flew like they had turned on the furnace, but the people just moved out of the house 3 weeks ago. After I called 911 my son informed me that 2 guys about an hour prior had entered the house from the back. So now there is a big investigation going on. There is no power going to the house. so the only thing it could have been is spontaneous combustion.... Where the amount of debt on the house and the Insurance Value where rubbing to close together.

What is your's?? The box knife maybe?? Or the hammer. And come to think of it I haven't found MY hammer yet either. LOL.

Lonnie has a shelf/very large standing shelf that he has named "Borrowed Tools":eek1:  :bum:

Okay I was looking at the 90 gallon and the tank looked pretty level so I put the level on that tank and it was way off but going the other direction as the other side of the room where the 180 is going. I then turned the level over and bingo now it matches the other side of the room. So I guess I have dropped the level one to many times.. I will have to go out and buy a new level and see how much I have to adjust the stand.. The good thing is it will not be as bad as I was thinking
