180 gallon tank- moving down steps

So, this weekend I think I am moving in the tank.
180 gallons.. I need to plan on 330 pounds

I have a straight shot from the door, down the steps, to the room the tank will go in. there is carpet on the steps..


Would I be better with 4 guys lifting the tank down, slidign it down..

or...

I can build a L shaped sled to hold the tank, put rope anchors in the high end of it of it (so not to put stress on the tank), and have a friend lower it down the steps with the rope (and the guys helping)

thoughts to those who have moved big tanks down steps?

Call a local moving company. For a few bucks it makes it there problem! ps maks sure there insured!!!

you and three other guys should be able to do it easy. I have done a 300 down the stairs with about 6 guys, not easy but we got it done. a 180 should be no problem, I would not slide it though, I would just have 2 on each side lifting.

never done that before, don't know if that would work or not. might be a lot of uneven pressure on just the sides...? not sure. you could always wear gloves (ie. mechanics gloves, or even some good strong latex gloves) if your worried about clammy hands and slipping.

go to a glass shop ask if you can borrow or rent 4 of there suction cup handles that will make your move so much better

or rent a pair or buy a set they are expensive but worth it.

I moved my 120 downstairs by myself by strapping it onto a good furniture dolly (2 wheeler) and it moves really easily and you will have great control. This is just not any 2 wheeler, but one like you would use to move a refrigerator.

Moved my 210 down the stairs with an appliance dolly and moved it back up when I sold it. Worked just fine.

Appliance dolly is the 2 wheel cart with tracks on the back of it to make stairs easier for those that don't know and I second/third this idea.

ended up gettign an acrylic 185 instead (the one i wanted had some damaged)

a friend and I got it downstairs no problem
