I am in the earley stages of possibly getting an 180 gal. tank I was looking to get a mag 24 for the return. any sugestions? I have a mag 950 on my 75 gallon and I'm very hapy with it.

may want to look into an Eheim 1262

I hear they are good pumps and quiet. I myself use a dart for my return divided into 4 1" returns. All depends what kind of flow you want.

I am also setting up a 180 and am debating between a blueline 30HD and 40HD for a return. What are the pros and cons for higher flow vs lower flow?

I asked myself the same question when setting up my 210 tank. I decided I wanted the return to provide the return of water from the sump, and leave the in tank water movement to the Streams and Maxijets. I ended up going with a Quiet One 6000.

I'm planning on the same thing for a 225g tank... a Quiet One 6000 and a couple of Tunze 6100's on a 7095 controller. How's it working out for you? Is there sufficient current? How many tunze units in your tank?

I have a 210 gallon reef tank with the sump and associated pumps about 40 feet away (in the garage) and about a five foot head loss. I use an Iwaki MX100vt. They're expensive pumps but they will run forever.

What do you feel is a good turnover rate for a sump/refuge? I have heard all different thoughts...My sump is 36x20 and the max water level will be at 14 inches making the most water in it 43 gallons. The refuge section is 12 by 20, making its max water 14.5 gallons. I have a blueline 30HD for a return pump. At 5 feet I should have 460 GPH. Is that sufficient for my 180 (will have 4 tunze in the tank as well).
