180 relocation project

Only 1" drains? heck my 10 gallon has a 1.5" drain ;)
I can't wait to see this thing in action, you are a pioneer down here Dan!
What size pump are you using? and what size container did you make this thing out of?

Chris

I have to get back to youo on the sizes. Pioneer, lol, this stuff was already thought of 20 years ago. lol Luckily, I had a cheat sheet, Thanks Chris.

Here is a list of things I have been wanting to get. I found out yesterday that I will be getting around $28,000 for getting out of the Army. And I have a job lined up with Heuberger in Motor city. So I fgured after I pay my truck off and some other debt. I will splurge a bit. YEAH.

Price list/Wish list:
AE Classic 400 $236.95
Lumenarc III $116.99X2 $233.98
Moontube Moon Controller System $49.00

Oh and while you're paying off your Truck, maybe you should trade it in and get a 4x4 so you won't get stuck on any more ice piles. LOL!!!

LOL, I am getting paid because the Army messed me up. Paul can tell you about that. I plan on paying it off and selling it. Just driving the Saab since Renee has her Tacoma.

Is Reef Exotics still the cheapest place to get the Lumenarc III's? I need ask Scott what he can get them in for. What do you guys think I should use for my return pump? It will need to fill my surge device, refuguim, and the returns to the tank which are two 1/2 loclines that are teed. I was thinking Hammerhead. I am not sure if a Dart has enough power.

I got the two for my Dad from ReefExotic, they were the cheapest I could find, but I'll be honest I'm a little disappointed in the craftmanship of the LAIII reflectors... I mean I honestly feel I could build my own and have it come out just as nice... It just wouldn't have the mogel mount (unless it can be purchased seperately). Everything is put together with pop-rivets; hell I have pop rivets, how tough can polishing aluminum sheet be? Can't imagine it being tougher than polishing acrylic! I guess it comes down to is it worth the extra time working to save a few bucks?

My 2 cents.

Hey Eric, I broke of every other tooth and the surge still flows up and over the center brace. Do you think I could burrow a router bit and router down some? How wide do they make those router bits for cutting? I was thinkng about routering down the area that I broke.

A router bit will need a router which you won't be able to get in your tank to use. I'd recommend you go with a dremmel to clean it up...

As for the LAIII, I don't have the time to tinker with one right now (too many other projects and jobs lined up), but I have the plans for the pieces that need to be cut. If you want to cut all the metal and come by I'm sure my buffer will shine it up. Then all that's left is drilling it and using the rivets. LMK

I would like to do that. Try and build one. I have a roto zip. That thing has enough power. I think I can fit it in from the front. What do you recomend to use with a dremel to clean it up and cut down some?

Probably a cutting wheel to remove acrylic and then a grinding wheel to smooth things out. Have you considered going with a smaller surge tank?

Why would I do that?? lol The size ot the container I am using now, I think lasts the perfect amount of time.I think it is maybe 25gal.
