Awesome tank. I plan on making my backyard a 4000g pond someday so I might solicit some advice :)

Also - love the bilingual warning.

Yeah it's pretty much a necessity to know Spanish in Houston, as 90 percent of people on job sites don't speak English.

Thanks for posting updated pics. I am curious about the sand. Which brand is it? It looks like a very fine grade sand.

Sorry, just saw this at the beggining of your thread. Is this what you went with? The Aragonite Reefflakes looks larger than whats in the photo.

Substrate and rock:

8 Tropic Eden Aragasnow Sugar Size Sand 30lb
8 Tropic Eden Reeflakes Aragonite 30lb
8 Tropic Eden Grand Select Aragonite 30 lb

It is the Tropic Eden sand mentioned before. The reef flakes are comparable to sea floor select from carib sea. Picture was taken about 6 ft above the sand bed.

Thanks fishcraze_1 it took me a little over four hours on just the arch. Each piece of rock is attached separately with 30lb test mono fishing string. I started the rock stack at 10AM and finished at 4AM.

I am wanting to do a fine sand in my 300 gallon build because I love the look of it, but I wasn't sure if the 5 MP 40's I am planning will stir it up too much and leave bare bottom spots.

What type of flow are you going to have and do you think that would be a problem in your tank with such fine sand?

What is the height of your 300? The sand really isn't that fine. There is a good mix because it promotes better micro life. Some of the reef flakes are almost pea gravel

The height of my tank is 24" tall x 10' long . When you take a picture from 6' away, even the larger pieces of sand look very small. Thanks for the response.

Viewable from three sides. I plan on placing 3 MP 40s along the back wall and two on the sides, depending on the flow, I may go with MP60's on the sides since the tank is 10' long.

I would stick with the MP40s. The depth of your aquarium wouldn't allow you to use the 60s unless you go bare bottom. I use the 60s pretty regularly and you almost have to keep them 12-18 inches deep to keep from getting micro bubbles sucked into them. If they are too low they will blow all sand away and suck up sand with the return flow. If it was me I would probably do 5 mp40a on the back wall and have my return pump or closed loop spraying along the length of the tank. You could even use educters if you wanted to get more power out of them.
