187g BB Modern Display

Looks like its coming along nicely. I love the regal.

So you decided to go with the H&S over the ATB, any reason for the change in heart? Both are awesome choices...just sounded like you were set on the ATB.

yeah I know a bit of a flip flop- 1 saved a lot of money, 2 seems very similar in performance attributes, 3 I know Brian in person vs. Victor online, and 4 Brian is hand delivering it. I was very set on the ATB because it was the latest and greatest, but I tend to sway towards 5 tried and true on big decisions like this.

skey - you wont go wrong with the H&S. Is that the version with eheims or aquabees? thanks much on my build, just click my little red house for my build thread.

200 indicates the body diameter in mm and 1260 in the name indicates a single pinwheel eheim 1260. I am partial to the eheim. It is appx. 8" body and a 4" neck I believe. they rate it for 300g- I think it'll do well on my heavy stocked 200. We shall see, I will definitely expect a lot.

no clams... he is great with sps and is actually great with most lps too, but the butterfly has taught him that favia is tasty :(. I haven't tried a clam to be honest. maybe if i run across the right one i'll give it a try. I don't think the butterfly will make it into the new tank... too nippy.

I got my liverock in and am starting the "cooking" process and I have to say it is a lot of work, but I have been reassured it is well worth it in the end.

this is a possible mock up of my scape. I think I want three columns, but I need a little more rock for that.

great fish, I love mine... just make sure it is eating well. Little hint the red unprocessed nori worked wonders with mine.

you guys think this is gonna be a good BB sump design?

Where does everyone go to make drawings like this, or what program?

been_there - sketchup, its free and easy :)

skey44 - that rock looks great, and would be a good amount in the display, I wouldn't add too much more, except in the sump.

Thanks, i guess ill play with it for an hour or two, it looks pretty hard since you guys can practically draw anything with it.

Thank you for tagging along everyone.

The tutorials they offer are outstanding on sketchup and I do have some experience with other 3d modeling software, but sketchup is far easier.

Mcliffy why more rock in the sump? I usually like the sump to be tidy so I can get in there to clean. Do you think three columns would be too much? I was thinking of a smaller one with some kind of bridge from one of the larger columns. One of the problems I'm having with my curerent tank is room on the rocks for corals. But on the other hand I do want to maintain a very open feel. I'll know when the tank is in front of me for sure.

After you put the rock in you display, step back and picture where a bunch of stags that are a foot tall will grow :) If there is room for them you are ok...I'm a fan of a lot of rock, as the more bio filtration the better (unless you are doing zeo or something to handle nutrients?), but too much in the display and there is no room for the coral, so really the only place for it to go is the sump. I've probably got 30-40 lbs in my sump, but will probably bump that up to 100 or so next time I see someone selling cheap locally.

I cannot see the vid bc I'm outta town and only have a blackberry not an iphone like most rcers so I can't see the vid. But I agree I will want a lotta growth room! Not thinking I will add zeo but I may try some carbon dosing and aminos to keep a high bioload and bright clear water with nice color still on my corals.
