1st Clam quarantine questions

Looking to buy my 1st clam and have some questions on quarantining.

I currently run a 30g permanently quarantined tank, HOB filter and skimmer, bare bottom, with 1 piece of live rock from my DT.

Some questions....

For quarantining purposes, is using regular IO salt sufficient, or do I need to run Reef Crystals due to the elevated levels of Ca, Mg, and Alk?

My lighting is only a Fluval LED strip, but will add a T5 HO Sunblaster sunlamp to supplement. Is this sufficient for QT purposes??

Here is the Sunblaster and fluval lights...

Also.... Is there any benefit of doing the Tank Transfer Method on the clam to remove ICH that may be embedded on its shell?? I always do the TTM on all fish and inverts, and feel it's a worth while task.

What's the normal quarantine time for clams before it goes into the DT??

I'm planning on building a platform from egg rate to keep the clam high in the tank close to the light.

My DT is a 65g mixed reef, with 2 Kessil 360we lights. Will this lighting be sufficient, or am I going to need to add additional lighting, like maybe a Kessil 160 we that is shooting directly on the clam??

Nope. No benefit to TTM on inverts as they are only capable of carrying one stage of the cycle (cysts) once they go to the next stage it's find a fish in 18 hours or die. Quarantine for inverts is just to make sure all those cysts have hatched I believe. Can be as short as 2 days or as long as 28 if I'm remembering correctly

This is all in regard to ich as I'm not familiar with all the parasites that can plauge clams. But yeah. For ich just QT for 30 day min I believe.

use yr usual salt
lighting is ok w/supplement
ich isnt as crucial w/clams as snails are make sure to check for them

Thanks Moliken. I run the Reef Crystals on my DT, and use the IO for my QT and when I mix salt for doing the TTM. I was curious about the lighting, because I didn't want to have the clam struggle while in QT.

I am almost tempted to buy the New Kessil A160we to use in my QT, and then when the clam goes into my DT, move the Kessil up and have that along with my 2 360we's.

Any suggestions of reputable online vendors for clams?

Been looking here for now...

One other question...I am currently running a prophylactic 2 round treatment of Prazipro in my QT for my Gold Assessor. If I do a 100% water change over the course of 2 weeks, would you see that being ok with housing the clam, since I do have 1 piece of LR on the tank ( use it to keep a few hermit crabs on since I have a BB tank).

i love dr mac, at pacific east. the finest clams around. i'd suggest a visit if you can. what a place!!
i don't know anything about the prazipro, though.

Awesome!! Ironically out of the few online vendors I looked at, none of which I had any previous experience, they stood out from the rest.

I called them this afternoon and spoke with Alyssa who was super helpful. I will be speaking with Kyle tomorrow to go over my lighting demands. He apparently has experience with Kessil lights, which is what I run on my DT
